Technical Efficiency of Physicians on a Provincial Basis in Turkey: An Application in Ministry of Health Hospitals

This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of physicians working in hospitals Turkish Ministry Health Turkey on a provincial basis. The other aim is determine idle inputs and under-produced outputs inefficient provinces. CCR BCC models Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique were used as method level physicians. Super-efficiency model was also rank efficient total number surgical specialists, internal medicine general practitioners input variables, weighted surgeries, hospital admissions, inpatients output variables this study. As result analysis, 19 (23.5%) provinces technically according model, while 28 (34.6%) achieved be model. average 81 calculated 0.8647 0.9149 consequence super-efficiency ranking that are input-oriented three with highest scores Istanbul, Ankara, Kırıkkale, respectively. score Istanbul Province higher than others, having value above 1.7.
